System Administrator PACS/RIS/VR

The System Administrator PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System)/RIS (Radiological Information System)/VR (Voice Recognition) is responsible for assisting in the operations management of the PACS/RIS/VR for Guelph General Hospital, and assisting with preparing and administering the PACS budget, the day to day applications, management, and training. While being a positive advocate for the Diagnostic Imaging Department, responsibilities include the coordination and effective operation of the system and related Educational, Quality Control and Security Activities while working closely with our Information Management (IM) department. This position reports to the Director Diagnostic Imaging. The hours of work are primarily days, with flexibility for weekend and on-call coverage as required.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Post Secondary education in Clinical (Radiology Technology) and/or Information Management (Networking Concepts, Equipment Interfacing, DICOM and HL7)
  • Successful completion of the PACS Administrator Certificate Program from the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences or equivalent PACS training
  • Microsoft NT Certified
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience related to Radiology and/or IM
  • Working knowledge of patient/image flow through Diagnostic Imaging
  • Working knowledge of networking and IP Addressing schemes and configuration
  • Current working knowledge of RIS management, plus experience with Meditech RIS preferred
  • Current working knowledge of VR hardware/software management, Powerscribe preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of office computer applications software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Web and e-mail systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to successfully communicate with patients, other hospital departments, hospital and medical staff
  • Excellent leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, conflict management and organizational skills
  • Project Management training preferred
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions
  • Ability to work independently and co-operatively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated initiative and good judgment
